Loving wonder woman!

Having taken a trip to Selfridges this week, one was greeted with a gigantic 50ft wonder woman cut out, despite being on the 4th floor it still wasn’t possible to escape the girl! So of course a trip to MAC was a no brainer….having checked out the range and making purchases(purely based on packaging btw) it was decided to give this stuff a thumbs up!
Why? Well in large part because the packing was genius and retro, it just has to be part of the make up kit. although some of the products seemed like a replica of existing ranges( MAC has so many shades and products that slight variation are inevitable) the shades were fairly wearable and usable I.e multi functional product such as the shimmer pots being one

Our verdict- if you’re needing a change from your usual or want to treat a friend MAC’s wonder woman rang is definitely an option!

matters of the skin!

Mild Acne, pigmentation, stretch marks, rosacea, malasma and so many more skin problems can often be aided to repair with the help of the right product and this brand is one of them!

The Pinkcrust team are all fixated on the Mario Badescu range. here are a list of reasons why(you ready?)
*the range has a variety of products targeted at common skin problems for all over the body
*being that this line is very close to a specialist skin care range, its products are very reasonable
*the range is actually effective!

one of the favourites amongst the pinkcrust girlies is the glycollic foaming wash, which is an exfoliation treatment for mild pigmentation with the effect of brightening the skin (after using this for 2 months, it was is amazingly effective because it cleaned ,brightened and evened out skin tone without drying stripping or irritation.)
some other products worth trying are;

Rolling Cream Peel With AHA

Seaweed Cleansing Soap

A.H.A. & Ceramide Moisturizer

This is a range covers everything, we can only recommend you try it

Oscar nails

Having studied the red carpet celebrity nails, we have concluded that nude nails was the trend of the day (and most likely the next coming months)….

Which promptly reminded us of our ‘ no fail’ french mani favourite Orly’s Angel face. Why? consistency is  “creamy” giving good coverage and the colour absolutely results in perfect looking clean and tidy nails. Excellent worn alone or with a white tip! however it was duely noted that Anne Hathaway’s natural nails were down to high-end brand Deborah Lippmann polish in ‘I dreamed you’. However if you need to get your hands on a cheaper high street alternative, we highly recommend Bourjois ‘so laque’ in ‘rose Lounge’-it offers excellent shine, longevity, superb consistency, wide brush for easier coverage…guess you catch our drift, get this!!

LFW inspiration……

Day 3 @ London Fashion week saw uber gorgeous models grace the catwalk for Vivienne Westwood and Temperly! Jenny Longworth nails sponsored by Revlon was running the show for talons backstage for Temperly. Our gal, Hella was also amongst the JLN(for Revlon) team. Gucci Westman(for Revlon) was the creator of the fab smoky purple eye  and hot red lip look! (we told you purple smokey eyes were hot, didn’t we…uh huh)

The nails?

We were very impressed! nails were ‘peach smoothie’ from Revlons scented perfume range… “after painting a portion 0f 36 hands it was a delight to breath in something pleasant rather than the usual toxic fumes, thumbs up to Revlon for that!” -Hella. The order of the day was a very attractive nude applied to absolute precision!(a la Jenny’s instructions!)

However the PC girlies have been inspired by this chic and demure look…….so we’ve of course gone for the absolute opposite effect by embracing our latest edition to the PC colour line up which is Essies’s ‘berry hard’, our first customer to snap this up was a burlesque dancer and it was le coup de foudre for this extravagant performer(talk about perfect match…huh) and this colour was complemented with pointy oval gel nails which resulted in a total 50’s style tribute….

And some other great finds were….. Revlons quick dry top coat, it does what it says on the bottle and has proven very productive in the salon!

I guess…we’ll see you all there then!

On the RARE occassions when we have little to do…..

Tools used;

  • steady hand(yep, all done by hand!)
  • creative flair
  • a little polish

Which one do you like????

Just some PC advice…..

A good make up base is…..??? To us girlies at PinkCrust the answer to this is really obvious, but not always to others.

It’s Good skin!  Skin is what your make up sits on so it’s therefore very important for your base to be smooth in order to achieve a smooth look after make up is applied. exfoliation three times a week, cleansing, toning & moisturising for the long-term is of course a must to KEEP skin up to par. Yet many of our customers are admitting to NOT moisturising everyday BUT still wearing make up everyday!!! (confusion, shock, horror…no…seriously) As a result of this knowledge we’d like to say

“Skipping the cleansing and moisturising, is just not cool”

In any case we’ve got three fab primers, that really make a difference to how long your make up last and aid in smooth application, enhanced glow and finer pores.                    Bobbi brown vitamin enriched face base, doubles up as a moisturiser, even worn without make up keeps the face matt and smooth looking as well as smelling gorgeous. Very good for daily use. This primer is by far our favorite and regularly used for our bridal make up too.                          YSL top secrets flash radiance. The pearly reflective pigments work very well to add a little highlighting. This product’s very mattifying, perfect for evening looks we think. Laura Mercier foundation primer, is lightweight and absorbs very quickly, it definitely keeps make up on all day and gives a very smooth finish to your make up.  BTW….We’re loving Ms Campbell’s flawless and radiant skin in the latest edition of Russian GQ, who is looking magnificent at 40 (we’re sure she doesn’t skip on her moisturising, toning and exfoliating!!!)

Tried, Tested and regularly used

We’ve been fully booked and totally run off our feet from opening to closing this Halloween weekend. So it’s been eat work and sleep for us all and It’s times like these when it’s most difficult to stick to a beauty routine-which you must do!!! Here are some products that have kept us “looking the part”(all products mentioned are based on the results of OUR regular use)

Shu Uemura cleansing oil-Do not be fooled by the oily consistency, it really does clean all traces of make up, however heavy. This cleansing oil certainly does not dry or clog skin , it is not harsh yet destroys spots and even helps to regulate skin to a perfect balance, it’s totally perfect for the coming winter. The eesult of using this product is clear and hydrated looking skin.

Verdict-A necessity for all!

Guerlain’s Issima Midnight Secret- Yep, this works. Not cheap but it does what it says on the bottle. Not getting enough sleep is always obvious on the skin, with this stuff it wont be. Even after one use, Pores look smaller and skin looks revived.

verdict -A Very handy product after a late night or to use as a skin ‘pick me up’

Dr Sebagh Azlaeic acid- Another ‘gooden’. This product acts like a mini at home peel. Just apply and leave it for five minutes, it exfoliates, tightens, brightens and eventually fades blemishes. It’s a ‘pricey’ mask BUT you can throw away a lot of other useless products on your dressing table for this one because it does so much! moisturiser even goes on better after use too.

Verdict-We even use it in the salon…
